The Senators’ Wives Association of Nigeria (SWAN) has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of one of its esteemed members, Professor Janet Plang, wife of Senator Diket Plang, who represents Plateau Central Senatorial District. The news of her death was received with great shock and sadness by the association, which described her as a woman of uncommon grace, intellect, and kindness.

In a condolence message issued on behalf of the association, the President of SWAN, Dr. (Mrs) Unoma Akpabio, paid glowing tribute to the late professor, describing her as “our beloved and distinguished sister, who was a woman of grace, intellect, and compassion—a true pillar in our circle and beyond.”

Mrs. Akpabio noted that Prof. Plang’s warmth, wisdom, and steady presence will be sorely missed by her colleagues and all who had the privilege of knowing her. “Her remarkable life was marked by humility, compassion, and unwavering dedication to education and service,” the statement read. “We extend our heartfelt condolences to her husband, Senator Diket Plang, their children, and the entire family. May God grant them the strength to bear this painful and irreplaceable loss.”
