‘Severance’ Tops 2025 Emmy Nominations with 27 Nods

The acclaimed psychological thriller series Severance has emerged as the frontrunner in the 2025 Emmy Awards race, leading the nominations with an impressive 27 nods across major categories.

Announced by the Television Academy on Tuesday, July 15, Severance dominated both the drama and technical fields, earning nominations for Outstanding Drama Series, Best Lead Actor (Adam Scott), Best Supporting Actress (Patricia Arquette), and Best Direction, among others.

The Apple TV+ series, known for its gripping storyline and haunting portrayal of work-life disassociation, has captured critical and audience acclaim since its debut. The second season, which aired earlier this year, intensified its narrative complexity, further cementing its place as a standout in modern television.

In response to the nominations, Severance showrunner Dan Erickson expressed gratitude to fans and the cast and crew, stating, “This recognition is a reflection of the deep commitment everyone brought to the story. We’re thrilled the series continues to resonate.”

The 2025 Emmy Awards ceremony is scheduled to take place in September, with Severance now positioned as the drama to beat. Other top contenders include The Last of Us and Succession, which received 24 and 21 nominations respectively.

This year’s nominations reflect a strong showing for streaming platforms once again, with Apple TV+, HBO, and Netflix dominating the list.
