SGOF Pledges Support for NASRDA to Boost Space Research and Innovation

Abuja, Nigeria – June 11, 2025

The Surveyor General of the Federation (SGOF), Surv. Abduganiyu Adebomehin, has pledged full support for the National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA) to enhance its operational capacity and scientific output.

Speaking during a courtesy visit to the NASRDA headquarters in Abuja, Surv. Adebomehin acknowledged the agency’s critical role in space science, satellite technology, and geospatial intelligence, adding that closer collaboration between the two institutions would accelerate national development.

“The work of NASRDA is essential to our nation’s technological advancement. The Office of the Surveyor General is ready to partner in areas of mapping, data sharing, and geospatial analysis to ensure optimal performance,” he said.

He noted that Nigeria’s sustainable development relies on accurate scientific data and modern technology, areas in which NASRDA has made significant progress over the years.

In his response, NASRDA’s Director-General, Dr. Halilu Shaba, expressed appreciation for the visit and stressed the importance of synergy among government agencies to fully harness the benefits of space science and technology.

The two leaders agreed to establish a joint technical committee to explore areas of mutual interest, particularly in geospatial data infrastructure, land mapping, and disaster monitoring.

The visit marks a new chapter in inter-agency cooperation aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s science and technology landscape.
