Sheikh Abdul Rahman Sudais Directs Shortened Prayers Amid Extreme Hajj Heat

In response to the intense heat affecting pilgrims during the 2025 Hajj exercise, Sheikh Abdul Rahman Al-Sudais, the Imam of the Grand Mosque in Makkah, has issued instructions for the Haramain imams to shorten the Friday khutbahs and prayers. The directive limits the duration of sermons and prayers to a maximum of 15 minutes.

Additionally, the time interval between the Adhan and Iqamah has been reduced to between five and ten minutes. This measure aims to alleviate the physical strain on pilgrims caused by the scorching temperatures and ensure their health and safety during the sacred rites.

The adjustments reflect the ongoing efforts by the Saudi authorities to provide a comfortable and secure environment for millions of worshippers undertaking the annual pilgrimage. Officials continue to emphasize the importance of safeguarding pilgrims’ well-being throughout the Hajj season.
