Smartcomply Academy Gains Global Accreditation, Sets New Benchmark for Certification in Africa

Lagos, July 10, 2025 — Smartcomply Academy, the training and capacity-building division of cybersecurity firm Smartcomply, has secured a major global accreditation, marking a significant milestone in Africa’s push toward internationally recognized standards in cybersecurity and compliance training.

The Academy announced on Tuesday that it has received full accreditation from the International Certification Council (ICC), a globally respected regulatory body for professional education and standards. With this recognition, Smartcomply Academy becomes one of the few African institutions to attain world-class certification status in the cybersecurity education space.

This development positions Smartcomply Academy as a trusted institution for delivering internationally benchmarked training, especially in areas like data privacy, cyber risk governance, ISO compliance, and digital forensics. It also empowers African professionals to access globally competitive credentials without leaving the continent.

Speaking at the unveiling ceremony in Lagos, Smartcomply’s Executive Director, Mrs. Abimbola Adeyemi, described the accreditation as “a validation of years of rigorous curriculum development, instructional quality, and impact-driven outcomes.” She noted that the Academy has trained over 2,000 professionals across West and Central Africa since its inception.

“This global endorsement confirms what we’ve always known — that African institutions can lead in professional excellence if given the right tools and focus. We are setting a new standard, not just for Nigeria but for the entire continent,” Adeyemi said.

The International Certification Council, in its official correspondence, cited Smartcomply Academy’s “pedagogical integrity, compliance with global certification frameworks, and strong student feedback” as key reasons for the approval.

Industry experts have lauded the achievement, saying it will likely expand local access to globally recognized cybersecurity and compliance certifications, reducing dependency on foreign-based institutions and saving significant foreign exchange.

In the coming months, the Academy plans to launch hybrid international programs in collaboration with partners in the UK, Canada, and the UAE, enabling seamless certification for African professionals working remotely or in regulated industries.

With this milestone, Smartcomply Academy joins the ranks of leading international professional training institutions and sets a precedent for others in Africa’s tech and security ecosystem to follow.
