Human rights activist and former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, has strongly criticised the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) over the alleged refusal to issue a final discharge certificate to corps member Rita Uguamaye, popularly known as Raye.
Sowore described the development as a “gross injustice” and vowed to ensure that justice is served. He alleged that the action against Uguamaye was both unfair and a violation of her rights, stressing that the NYSC must be held accountable for its decisions.
While details surrounding the NYSC’s decision remain unclear, Sowore said he is committed to pursuing all necessary legal and advocacy channels to address the matter.
“This is not just about one corps member; it is about fairness, transparency, and respect for the rights of every young Nigerian who serves the nation,” Sowore stated, calling for public support to challenge what he termed as an abuse of power.
The NYSC is yet to respond publicly to the allegations.
