Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou has expressed his support for Mauricio Pochettino’s desire to return to the club in the future. Pochettino, who managed Tottenham from 2014 to 2019, recently stated his intention to reunite with Spurs, and Postecoglou hopes it happens for him.
Pochettino has had spells with Paris St-Germain and Chelsea since leaving Tottenham and is currently the head coach of the United States national team, a position he took up in September 2024. Postecoglou became Spurs boss in June 2023 and is under contract until 2027.
When asked about Pochettino’s comments, Postecoglou said, “If he wants to come back one day then I hope it happens for him. We all have dreams and aspirations. You’re suggesting that he’s trying to put pressure on me?” He also denied feeling disrespected by Pochettino’s comments, given the uncertainty surrounding his own future at the club.
Pochettino remains a beloved figure among Tottenham fans after leading the team to several notable achievements during his tenure. However, his current stint with the US national team has been marked by pressure after losing three of his eight matches in charge.
Tottenham’s poor form this season has raised questions about Postecoglou’s future, with the club sitting 14th in the Premier League. Should they part ways with Postecoglou, it’s reported that they would need to pay a significant compensation fee to pry Pochettino away from his US job.
