Stable Power Supply on the Horizon, Says Minister Adelabu

Nigeria’s Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, has assured citizens that the days of erratic electricity supply are gradually coming to an end, stating that Nigerians will soon begin to enjoy uninterrupted power across the country.

Speaking during a recent engagement with stakeholders in the energy sector, the minister expressed confidence in the ongoing reforms and infrastructural investments being undertaken by the federal government to stabilise the national grid and improve electricity generation, transmission, and distribution.

According to Chief Adelabu, the government is working round the clock to address long-standing challenges in the power sector, including obsolete infrastructure, liquidity issues, gas supply constraints, and technical inefficiencies. He noted that recent interventions have begun to yield positive results, with gradual improvements already being recorded in key areas of the power value chain.
“Our target is clear—Nigerians deserve reliable, uninterrupted electricity, and we are fully committed to achieving that. With the coordinated efforts of all stakeholders, we are confident that stable power is no longer a distant dream but a reality within reach,” the minister said.

He also revealed that the ministry is collaborating closely with both local and international partners to fast-track critical power projects, upgrade aging facilities, and expand grid capacity to meet rising demand from homes, industries, and businesses.

The minister’s remarks come amid renewed public outcry over frequent blackouts, rising electricity tariffs, and inconsistent service from distribution companies. However, Chief Adelabu assured Nigerians that comprehensive reforms under President Bola Tinubu’s administration are being implemented to permanently fix the systemic problems that have plagued the sector for decades.

While he did not give a specific timeline, the minister stressed that measurable progress would be visible in the coming months, urging citizens to remain patient as the government intensifies its efforts to deliver a sustainable energy future for all Nigerians
