Super Falcons Eye Historic 10th WAFCON Title in Showdown Against Hosts Morocco

Nigeria’s Super Falcons are on the cusp of cementing their legacy as the most successful team in African women’s football as they prepare to battle hosts Morocco in the final of the 13th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

The much-anticipated clash, scheduled to hold at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat, will mark a defining moment for the Nigerian side as they aim to secure their 10th WAFCON crown. The Super Falcons have dominated the tournament’s history, winning nine titles out of the previous twelve editions, and are now just one match away from extending their continental supremacy.

Led by head coach Randy Waldrum, the Falcons have demonstrated resilience and tactical brilliance throughout the tournament, defeating strong opponents including Cameroon and South Africa on their journey to the final. The squad, featuring stars such as Asisat Oshoala, Rasheedat Ajibade, and Chiamaka Nnadozie, is confident and focused on clinching the title despite facing the challenge of a passionate home crowd.

Hosts Morocco, on the other hand, have shown remarkable progress in women’s football, reaching the final for the first time in their history. Their energetic and cohesive style of play, buoyed by home support, poses a real threat to Nigeria’s dominance.

Speaking ahead of the final, team captain Onome Ebi described the match as “more than a final — it’s a mission to remind Africa who the true giants are.” The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has also expressed confidence in the team’s ability to deliver, urging Nigerians to rally behind the girls as they chase history.

As the Super Falcons gear up for what could be a record-breaking night, the hopes of a nation rest on their shoulders, with the dream of a 10th title firmly in sight.
