Nigeria’s Super Falcons touched down at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja on a chartered flight from Morocco, where they clinched a record-extending 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) title.
The triumphant squad was warmly received by jubilant fans, football officials, and dignitaries who gathered to celebrate the team’s outstanding performance in the continental tournament. The players, visibly elated, stepped off the aircraft to cheers and waving flags, as chants of victory echoed through the arrival terminal.
The Super Falcons secured their historic victory after a thrilling final against hosts Morocco, underlining Nigeria’s dominance in African women’s football. Their remarkable journey through the tournament showcased grit, skill, and unity, winning the hearts of millions of Nigerians at home and abroad.
The Minister of Sports, top Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) officials, and representatives from the Presidency were on ground to receive the team. Plans are underway for an official state reception in honour of their achievement.
