Nigeria’s first-choice goalkeeper and Super Falcons standout, Chiamaka Nnadozie, has officially parted ways with French side Paris FC, bringing to an end a remarkable five-and-a-half-year spell that has left an indelible mark on the club’s history. The 24-year-old, who arrived in France from Nigeria Women’s Football League side Rivers Angels in 2020, confirmed her departure in an emotional message shared on her official X (formerly Twitter) handle.
Nnadozie, who rose to continental prominence as one of Africa’s finest goalkeepers, leaves Paris FC at the peak of her career after helping the club secure their first major silverware in nearly two decades — the 2025 Coupe de France Féminine. The historic triumph was sealed at Stade de l’Épopée in Calais, where she delivered a heroic performance by saving two penalties in a tense 5–4 shootout victory against city rivals Paris Saint-Germain, following a goalless draw in regulation time.
Reflecting on her journey with the Parisian club, Nnadozie expressed deep gratitude to her teammates, coaches, and supporters for their unwavering belief in her since making the leap from the Nigerian league to European football. “It’s been an honour to have been a part of this amazing team for the past five and a half years. I will miss each and every one of you,” she wrote in her farewell post. “Thank you for all the support and great memories. It’s hard to say goodbye to such a fantastic team. Keep achieving greatness.”
The club, in its official statement, paid glowing tribute to the Nigerian international, describing her as not just a player, but a pillar in the squad and a key figure in one of the most successful eras in the club’s recent history. “Arriving at Paris FC in 2020 from River Angels FC, Chiamaka immediately became an essential part of the team. Arkema’s best goalkeeper in 2023 — she is leaving Paris FC after a magnificent victory in the Coupe de France, where she was one of the main actresses,” the club said.
Paris FC further added, “Paris FC warmly thanks Chiamaka for all these five years that will forever leave an imprint in the history of the club. We wish her all the best for the next step of her career.”
During her time in the French topflight, Nnadozie earned a reputation for her calm command in the box, lightning-fast reflexes, and leadership qualities. She made 100 domestic league appearances for Paris FC, keeping 44 clean sheets and maintaining a commendable 74.4 per cent save rate. Her excellence between the posts was recognised officially when she was crowned Best Goalkeeper of the Arkema Première Ligue for the 2023/2024 season — a prestigious honour that underlined her status as one of the league’s elite performers.
As speculation mounts over her next move, Nnadozie leaves Paris FC as a fan favourite and a role model to aspiring African goalkeepers. Her departure signals the end of a defining chapter, but also the beginning of what many expect to be an even more illustrious career on the global stage.
