Supreme Court Sets the Record Straight.

In an official statement released on Monday, March 24, the Supreme Court’s Director of Information and Public Relations, Akande Festus, dismissed the claims as false and misleading.

According to the statement, Justice Agim attended the convocation ceremony solely in his capacity as an honoured alumnus of the University of Calabar. The institution’s governing council had conferred upon him the prestigious Honorary Doctorate Degree in Law (Doctor Honoris Causa) in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the legal profession.

Clarification on Justice Agim’s Attendance
The Supreme Court further emphasized that Justice Agim’s presence at the event was independent and unrelated to any government official. The judiciary reiterated its commitment to upholding integrity and transparency while cautioning against the spread of misinformation.

This clarification comes amid growing concerns about the misrepresentation of facts on social media, with the Supreme Court urging the public to verify information before dissemination.
