Syrian Hajj Director: Nearly 14,000 Syrian Pilgrims Have Arrived in Mecca So Far Without Any Reported Emergencies

As of Thursday, May 29, 2025, approximately 14,000 Syrian pilgrims have safely arrived in Mecca for the Hajj pilgrimage, with no emergencies reported, according to Muhammad Nour Araj, Director General of Hajj and Umrah. Araj stated that the arrival of pilgrims will continue until June 2, 2025, with a total of 22,500 Syrian pilgrims expected to participate this year.

To enhance the pilgrimage experience, the Syrian authorities have implemented several measures aimed at improving organizational, medical, and administrative services. These initiatives include strengthening communication with carrier companies in Saudi Arabia to ensure the best care for pilgrims. Additionally, digital monitoring mechanisms have been developed through personal ID cards, allowing for efficient tracking and support.

The Syrian Hajj operation is divided into four main missions: administrative, religious, health, and media, each dedicated to serving the pilgrims. Araj emphasized the importance of noble intentions, good behavior, and adherence to legal and organizational instructions, urging pilgrims to view Hajj as a trust.

Furthermore, the Syrian authorities are working on developing an integrated electronic portal to cover all stages of Hajj, from registration to return. This portal aims to provide a transparent and fair distribution of Syria’s quota of pilgrims, as granted by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The successful and smooth arrival of Syrian pilgrims in Mecca reflects the effective coordination and preparation by the Syrian authorities, ensuring a safe and fulfilling Hajj experience for all participants.
