Tafsan Tours & Travels Sustains Profit Growth Amidst Economic Headwinds

Tafsan Tours and Travels reported profit growth at its Annual General Meeting in Alausa, Ikeja, highlighting resilience in the face of policy and market disruptions.

The meeting was attended by members of the Board of Directors, the company secretary, and the external auditors, Messrs Adebiyi Olufowobi & Co. The auditors confirmed that the company’s financial statements were properly prepared in line with international reporting standards, with all required documents made available and the books of accounts well maintained.

Chairman of the Board, Alhaji Suleiman Yusuf, said the year was marked by significant challenges, including the federal government’s removal of fuel subsidy, the devaluation of the naira, and the discontinuation of Hajj sponsorship in 2024, all of which reduced the number of intending pilgrims. He also cited Saudi Arabia’s introduction of an Umrah quota system, which denied many eligible pilgrims access to visas.

Despite these headwinds, the company achieved stronger financial results and recorded an increase in shareholders’ funds. Yusuf expressed gratitude to stakeholders for their confidence, to board members for their wise counsel, and to NASFAT for continuous prayers and support.

In his remarks, NASFAT President, Alhaji Ayodeji Abdulrauf, called for greater dedication, openness, and commitment to the core values of Islam and NASFAT. He also challenged the Board to build Tafsan into an institution that would stand as a reference point in the industry.

Stakeholders, including NASFAT President Alhaji Ayodeji Abdulrauf and Elders’ Council representative Alhaja Agbalajobi, commended the company’s resilience and challenged the board to build on its legacy.

Speaking on behalf of the Chairman of the Elders’ Council, Alhaja Agbalajobi encouraged the Board to aim higher, while other stakeholders, including Alhaji Arowosaye and Alhaji Sheriff Mojirola Yusuf, emphasized the importance of competence and capability in leadership.

The meeting also acknowledged the contributions of past chairmen who have steered the organization through more than 20 years of operations.

Tafsan said it will continue to position itself as a trusted name in Hajj, Umrah, and pilgrimage travel in Nigeria, building on its resilience and steady growth.
