Taraba Speaker Pledges Support for FRSC as Sector Commander Advocates Legislative Backing on Road Safety

Jalingo, July 2, 2025 — The Taraba State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Corps Commander Anna Attah, has called for stronger legislative collaboration to promote road safety in the state. She made this appeal during a scheduled visit to the Speaker of the Taraba State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Kizito Bonzena, on Monday, July 1, 2025.

The visit was aimed at briefing the Speaker on the activities of the State Road Safety Advisory Council and the critical need to implement the Nigeria Road Safety Strategy II (NRSS II), particularly its legislative components. Commander Attah emphasized the necessity for a more structured framework that empowers the FRSC to retrain motorists and enforce existing road safety laws effectively.

She noted that achieving a safer motoring environment in Taraba hinges on proactive legislative input, community engagement, and inter-agency cooperation. “There is a need to intensify synergy between the Corps and the State Assembly, especially in strengthening laws that guide road use and ensuring that violators are appropriately sanctioned,” she added.

In his response, Speaker Bonzena commended the FRSC Sector Commander for her commitment to improving road safety in Taraba. He described her efforts as a step toward building a sustainable road safety culture and assured her of the full support of the State Assembly.

“The House of Assembly stands ready to back every initiative that guarantees the safety of lives and property on our roads,” the Speaker stated.

The meeting marked a pivotal step in aligning legislative priorities with the goals of the FRSC to enhance safety and compliance on the state’s road networks.
