The significance of Dhul-Hijjah

Dhul-Hijjah is the 12th month  of the Islamic lunar calendar and holds significant importance for Muslims.

 Here are some key points to note.

Sacred month

Dhul-Hijjah is one of the four sacred months in Islam, during which fighting is prohibited.love and charity are encouraged to be our brothers keeper so that our neighborhood enjoys the full lessons and merry making embedded in the sacred month 

Hajj pilgrimage

The month is notable for the Hajj pilgrimage to Mecca, a fundamental pillar of Islam that Muslims perform once in their lifetime if physically and financially able.personally or been sponsored by individual or corporate bodies and the government as the case may be.

Eid al-Adha

The 10th day of Dhul-Hijjah marks Eid al-Adha, a festival commemorating Prophet Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice his son Ismail. Muslims celebrate by sacrificing animals and sharing meat with others and non Muslims in their neighborhood and the less privileged.

Fasting

Fasting on the first nine days of Dhul-Hijjah, especially on the Day of Arafah (9th day), is considered a virtuous act.

Increased devotion

Muslims often increase their acts of worship, such as prayer, charity, and recitation of the Quran, during this month.

These practices and events highlight the spiritual significance of Dhul-Hijjah for Muslims worldwide.
