Three Notorious Kidnappers Arrested by Ilorin South Security Team at Abelu Hideout

In a significant win against rising insecurity, operatives under the Ilorin South Local Government Council’s Security Initiative have apprehended three serial kidnappers operating along the Idofian Road axis in Kwara State.

The suspects were captured in the early hours of Tuesday, July 16, 2025, during a targeted operation at Abelu, a location long suspected to be a base for criminal elements. Acting on credible intelligence, the local security task force launched a swift raid that led to the arrest of the kidnappers without resistance.

According to preliminary findings, the suspects had been using a bicycle as a disguise to blend in with unsuspecting residents and commuters while carrying out surveillance and kidnappings. This strategy, authorities say, helped them avoid detection while terrorizing the area over time.

Executive Chairman of Ilorin South Local Government Council, Hon. Nuhu Majeed Podo, praised the tactical brilliance and courage displayed by the security team. He reiterated his administration’s commitment to safeguarding lives and properties across the council.

“This is a remarkable stride in our collective mission to flush out criminality from our communities,” Hon. Podo said. “Our investment in grassroots security and public vigilance is yielding results, and we will not rest until Ilorin South becomes a safe haven for all.”

The suspects are currently in custody as investigations continue to uncover their operations and possible accomplices. Authorities have urged residents to maintain heightened vigilance and promptly report suspicious movements to security agencies.
