President Bola Tinubu on Monday held a closed-door meeting with Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
The meeting came just days after the lifting of the six-month state of emergency in Rivers State, which had suspended the governor, his deputy, and the State House of Assembly.
Governor Fubara arrived at the Villa in the evening and described the engagement with the President as a “father-son discussion.”
He said the visit was to express gratitude, seek guidance, and reaffirm his commitment to sustaining peace in the state.
Following the meeting, Fubara declared that political stability had returned to Rivers and stressed his readiness to work with all stakeholders to prevent further crises.
He also hinted at ongoing reconciliation with his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, who currently serves as Minister of the Federal Capital Territory.
Details of the discussions between the President and the governor were not disclosed.
