Tinubu Names IBB’s Son, Others as Heads of Key Federal Agencies

President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of Muhammad Babangida, son of former military president Ibrahim Babangida, as Chairman of the restructured Bank of Agriculture.

This was disclosed on Friday in a statement issued by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.

Babangida, 53, holds a degree in Business Administration and a Master’s degree in Public Relations and Business Communication from the European University in Switzerland. He also completed an Executive Program on Corporate Governance at Harvard Business School in 2002.

The latest round of appointments signals President Tinubu’s continued efforts to reposition critical federal institutions with experienced professionals and technocrats.

The President also appointed several other Nigerians into key leadership roles across various government agencies. The full list of newly appointed heads includes:

Lydia Kalat Musa from Kaduna State as Chairman of the Oil and Gas Free Zones Authority, Jamilu Wada Aliyu from Kano State as Chairman of the National Educational Research and Development Council, and Yahuza Ado Inuwa also from Kano State as Chairman of the Standard Organisation of Nigeria.

Others are Sanusi Musa, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria from Kano State, who was appointed Chairman of the Institute of Peace and Conflict Resolution, and Professor Al-Mustapha Alhaji Aliyu from Sokoto State who is now Director General of the Directorate of Technical Cooperation in Africa.

Also on the list is Sanusi Garba Rikiji from Zamfara State as Director General of the Nigerian Office for Trade Negotiations, while Mrs Tomi Somefun from Oyo State was named Managing Director of the National Hydro Electric Power Areas Development Commission.

Dr Abdulmumini Mohammed Aminu Zaria from Kaduna State was appointed Executive Director of the Nigerian Integrated Water Resources Management Commission.

The appointments come as part of President Tinubu’s broader efforts to strengthen institutional leadership and drive reform across key economic and developmental sectors.
