President Bola Tinubu has vowed that the gunmen responsible for the recent killings in Plateau State will be apprehended and severely punished according to the law. The President made this statement following the brutal attacks on communities in Plateau, which left many dead and several properties destroyed.
In a release issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu expressed his condolences to the families of victims from Ruwi, Hurti, and Tadai communities in Bokkos Local Government Area, as well as those from Manguna and Dafo villages, who were also affected by the attacks.
“I have directed security agencies to hunt down the attackers, and they will face severe punishment once apprehended,” Tinubu said, describing the attacks as senseless and unacceptable.
The President also extended his sympathy to the Plateau State Government, particularly Governor Caleb Mutfwang, and called on the affected communities to cooperate with security agencies by providing any necessary information to help capture the perpetrators.
“The report of another violent attack in Plateau State by mindless gunmen saddens me deeply,” Tinubu said. “These attacks on innocent citizens are intolerable, especially as we continue our efforts to restore peace and order across the nation.”
Despite the violence, Tinubu assured that his administration remains committed to protecting every Nigerian citizen. He reaffirmed that the attacks would not deter the government’s resolve to eliminate such threats.
“This tragic incident will not slow us down in our mission to protect the lives and property of Nigerians. We will intensify our efforts to eliminate evil wherever it lurks in our country,” the President stated.
Tinubu has also instructed the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to collaborate with state authorities in providing immediate relief and assistance to the victims, as well as supporting the rebuilding efforts in the affected communities.
The President called for peace and unity in the wake of the violence, urging the affected communities to resist the urge for retaliation. “No community should have to endure such tragedy,” Tinubu said. “I urge all Nigerians—irrespective of ethnicity, religion, or politics—to embrace peace, reject violence, and work towards unity.”
The President concluded his message by extending thoughts and prayers to the families of the victims and all those impacted by the senseless violence. He stressed that national peace and stability must be upheld through collective efforts, with everyone playing a role in fostering unity and harmony.
