Abuja, Nigeria — August 13, 2025 | President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has nominated seasoned journalist Louis Odion and grassroots politician Ummusalma Isiyaku Rabiu as Executive Commissioners of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC).
According to the Presidency, Odion has been tapped for the role of Executive Commissioner for Operations, while Rabiu is to serve as Executive Commissioner for Corporate Services. Both appointments await Senate confirmation, as required by the FCCPC Act, 2018.
Odion, hailing from Edo State, is a former Senior Technical Assistant on Media to Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and a past Commissioner for Information in Edo State. His academic credentials include a Master’s degree in Modern War Studies from the University of Buckingham in the UK and another in International Law and Diplomacy from the University of Lagos.
Rabiu, 35, from Kano State, is the founder of the Usir Foundation, a non-profit focused on uplifting disadvantaged communities through education, skills development, and humanitarian outreach. She holds a degree in Business Administration and is widely recognised for promoting inclusive governance and increasing women and youth participation in politics.
The nominations underscore the Tinubu administration’s push to boost regulatory capacity and strengthen consumer protection in Nigeria’s marketplace.
