Kaduna, Nigeria – July 22, 2025 – President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is set to officially commission the newly established College of Petroleum Studies in Kaduna, marking a strategic move by the Federal Government to enhance technical expertise and innovation within Nigeria’s oil and gas sector.
The inauguration ceremony, scheduled for this week, will bring together top government officials, energy sector stakeholders, academics, and representatives from international oil companies. The institution is expected to serve as a premier centre for research, professional training, and development of indigenous talent in petroleum engineering, geosciences, and energy policy.
According to a statement from the presidency, the College of Petroleum Studies aligns with the Tinubu administration’s broader energy reform agenda aimed at boosting local content, enhancing sectoral efficiency, and securing Nigeria’s long-term energy sustainability.
“The college is designed to fill critical knowledge and capacity gaps in our energy sector. It will serve as a centre of excellence that supports our drive toward energy transition, indigenous participation, and global competitiveness,” the statement read.
Located in Kaduna, the institution is equipped with state-of-the-art laboratories, simulation centres, and lecture halls. It will also collaborate with local universities and international partners to ensure high academic and practical standards.
President Tinubu’s commissioning of the facility reaffirms his administration’s commitment to expanding educational and industrial infrastructure while positioning Nigeria as a knowledge-driven oil-producing nation.
