“To Err Is Human, To Forgive Is Divine.”

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

One of the key and exclusive divine attributes of God is “Perfection”.

Our noble Prophet Muhammad also says, “And know that whatever befalls you was not going to miss you, and whatever comes to you was never going to miss you.”

In realisation of the above-stated facts, we, in Nasrul-Lahi-l-Fatih Society (NASFAT), extend our deepest sympathies and unshaken support to our brother, colleague, and father, the Registrar of Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, CON, FNL who is currently experiencing immense grief and emotional distress over a recent and inadvertent function-related incident, technical errors that affected the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) results.

Therefore, in light of public interest and to clarify the circumstances surrounding the matter, we affirm unequivocally, based on the antecedents of Prof. Oloyede that the mistake in question was an error of judgment — a mistake of the head, not of the heart. It does not reflect our highly respected scholar’s true character, values, or professional conduct; his past public records are there for scrutiny. Those who know him can attest to his long-standing reputation for integrity, diligence, and sincere commitment to duty.

It needs to be mentioned that, whether the incident occurred through direct action or by oversight through a subordinate as mentioned in the press, it is important to emphasize that there was no ill intent or deliberate negligence involved. Human error, though unfortunate, is a shared part of our reality, and we should realise the fact that only God is infallible.

Unaguably though, accountability remains important, but so too are compassion, understanding, and the recognition that no one is beyond the possibility of faltering.

Moreover, he and his team had accepted responsibility for the cause, it takes strong humility to own up in such situations.

Unapologetically, we stand with him and his team during this difficult time, and we pray that Allah, the Most Merciful, brings healing to his heart, restores his dignity, and replaces his distress with ease and honor.

“… And He knows what is on the land and in the sea; there is not a leaf which falls that He does not know about and there is not a grain in the darkness of the earth or anything green or dry which has not been recorded in a Clear Book.” Surah Al-An’am, verse 59 (6:59)

May this trial serve as a reminder of our shared humanity and the need for justice tempered with mercy.

May Allah (swt) comfort all who undergo trauma as a result of the unfortunate incident.
