Attacking midfielder Nathan Tella has been replaced by KAA Gent’s Jordan Torunarigha for the upcoming FIFA
World Cup Qualifiers against Rwanda and Zimbabwe.
The Super Eagles head Coach, Éric Chelle made the decision to replace the Bayer Leverkusen attacker after suffering muscular discomfort ahead of the club’s 2-0 defeat to their league rivals Bayern Munich in the Champions League Round of 16 return leg.
With the confirmation of Tella’s unavailability due to injury by the coach of Bayer Leverkusen, Xabi Alonso, Chelle opted to call up Torunarigha to replace Tella in the final 23-man squad for the two qualifiers meeting against Rwanda on the 21st of March and Zimbabwe on the 25th of March, 2025.
The 27-year-old centre back had only featured in one game for Nigeria, which came on the 16th of October, 2023 in a 3-2 friendly match win against Mozambique.
