The Federal Ministry of Tourism has applauded Nigeria’s growing creative industry, particularly the ingenuity and craftsmanship of local leather entrepreneurs, at the recently concluded Lagos Leather Fair 2025.
Held at the Balmoral Convention Centre, Victoria Island, the event brought together top leather designers, artisans, investors, and stakeholders to showcase innovation and promote Nigeria’s leather value chain. The Fair served as a marketplace for indigenous talent, spotlighting everything from footwear and handbags to luxury accessories and eco-friendly leather solutions.
Speaking during a tour of exhibition stands, the Honourable Minister of Tourism, Mrs. Lola Ade-John, praised the organisers for creating a platform that amplifies Nigerian creativity while promoting sustainable economic development.
“This fair embodies the spirit of Nigerian resilience and innovation. The leather industry holds immense potential to boost tourism, generate employment, and elevate Nigeria’s global image in fashion and craftsmanship,” the Minister stated.
She reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to supporting homegrown enterprises and integrating creative industries into the national tourism roadmap.
The 2025 Lagos Leather Fair also featured panel discussions, masterclasses, and pitch sessions for emerging designers, fostering knowledge exchange and market linkages. Participants hailed the event as a game-changer for Nigeria’s leather industry and a key contributor to the nation’s creative economy.
Organisers estimate that this year’s edition attracted over 10,000 attendees, including international buyers, industry experts, and policymakers, signaling growing confidence in Nigeria’s leather sector as a viable economic driver.
