Transition of Power: Fubara Family Departs Government House.

In a peaceful transfer of power, Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, along with his family and security personnel, has vacated the Government House in Port Harcourt. This move follows President Bola Tinubu’s declaration of a state of emergency in Rivers State, suspending Fubara, his deputy, and state House of Assembly members for six months.

The governor’s departure, which occurred on Wednesday morning as at 12:50PM, marks a significant development in the state’s political landscape. As the Fubara family left the Government House, security personnel remained on the premises, with two Armoured Personnel Carriers stationed outside

Meanwhile, Vice Admiral Ibokette Ibas (retd.), appointed by President Tinubu to oversee the state for the next six months, is expected to assume office soon. Preparations are underway to receive him, with 15 soldiers spotted inside the Government House premises .

Despite the political changes, life in Port Harcourt and its environs remains calm, with residents going about their daily activities as usual. The transition of power is seen as a significant step towards restoring stability in the state.
