Troops, DSS Rescue Abducted NDLEA Commander, Arrest Three Suspects

July 2025 – Nigeria — In a successful joint operation, operatives of the Nigerian military and the Department of State Services (DSS) have rescued a kidnapped commander of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), apprehending three suspects linked to the abduction.

The NDLEA commander, whose identity remains undisclosed for security reasons, was reportedly abducted by unknown gunmen earlier in the week. The coordinated rescue effort was carried out in a swift and intelligence-led mission following actionable leads provided by security sources.

The rescue operation, which took place in a remote location believed to have been used as a hideout by the kidnappers, involved tactical precision and minimal resistance. Security forces succeeded in freeing the officer without any casualties, while three individuals suspected to be involved in the kidnapping were taken into custody.

Spokespersons from the NDLEA and military authorities confirmed the safe recovery of the commander and commended the synergy among security agencies. They noted that the incident highlights the ongoing threats security operatives face in the line of duty, particularly in Nigeria’s efforts to curb drug trafficking and related crimes.

The suspects are currently undergoing interrogation and will be handed over to appropriate authorities for prosecution. Authorities reiterated their commitment to ensuring the safety of law enforcement officers and warned that criminal acts against state agents will be met with decisive force.
