Two Ghanaian Pilgrims Pass Away in Mecca, Five Others Sent Back Amid 2025 Hajj

Approximately 60,000 Ghanaian pilgrims embarked on the sacred journey to Saudi Arabia for the 2025 Hajj season. Tragically, during the pilgrimage, two of these pilgrims lost their lives in Mecca. Additionally, five other pilgrims were sent back to Ghana due to complications related to their visas.

The Head of Corporate Affairs at the Hajj Taskforce, Alhaji A.B.A. Fuseini, clarified the situation surrounding the return of these individuals. He emphasized that the term “repatriated” is preferred over “deported,” explaining that deportation implies criminal behavior, which is not the case here. The affected pilgrims did not commit any offenses; rather, their return was the result of errors in visa processing.

Efforts are currently underway by the Hajj Taskforce to address the visa challenges and to ensure the smooth return of these pilgrims to Mecca to complete their pilgrimage. Authorities remain committed to supporting all Ghanaian pilgrims throughout the Hajj period.
