UBEC Chief Reaffirms Inclusive Education Drive, Inspects Riverine Schools in Lagos

Lagos, Nigeria — August 28, 2025

The Executive Secretary of the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), Aisha Garba, on Thursday reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to expanding inclusive and equitable education across Nigeria, with particular focus on riverine and historically significant communities.

In a statement issued via her official X account, Garba disclosed that she embarked on an inspection tour across riverine communities in Lagos State, covering Ibeshe, Moba (Badagry/Ojo axis), Ojo, Olorunda Local Council Development Area (LCDA), and Badagry.

During the visit, she inspected ongoing education projects, including the UBEC Smart Model School located in Olorunda LCDA within the Badagry Division. She noted that the initiative aims to strengthen access to quality learning opportunities for children in hard-to-reach areas.

UBEC also confirmed the Lagos monitoring tour through its official social media channels, while state education authorities emphasized ongoing collaboration to bridge gaps between policy and performance in Nigeria’s basic education sector.
