Uefa has opened an investigation into allegations of indecent conduct by four Real Madrid players during their Champions League last-16 win against Atletico Madrid. The players in question are Antonio Rudiger, Kylian Mbappe, Vinicius Jr, and Dani Ceballos.
According to reports, the four players allegedly made gestures towards the home fans after Real Madrid’s penalty shootout victory. TV footage appears to show Rudiger making a throat-slitting motion, while Mbappe seemingly made a crotch-grabbing gesture.
Atletico Madrid reportedly filed a complaint with Uefa last week, prompting the investigation. The players could face suspension, but it remains unclear whether the case will be heard before Real Madrid’s Champions League quarter-final tie against Arsenal.
Uefa released a statement confirming the investigation, saying: “[An] ethics and disciplinary inspector has been appointed to investigate allegations of indecent conduct” made by the four Real Madrid players. “Further information regarding this matter will be made available in due course.”
The investigation is ongoing, and the outcome could have significant implications for Real Madrid’s Champions League campaign.
