UNICAL Launches Ambitious 25-Year Roadmap to Revolutionize Workforce, Curriculum

The University of Calabar (UNICAL) has unveiled a comprehensive 25-year plan aimed at strengthening its workforce and curriculum. The plan, which was launched at a recent ceremony, is designed to position the university as a leading institution of higher learning in Nigeria and beyond.

According to the Vice-Chancellor of UNICAL, Prof. Florence Obi, the 25-year plan is a strategic blueprint that will guide the university’s development and growth over the next two and a half decades.

“The plan is designed to address the current challenges facing the university, including inadequate funding, outdated curriculum, and inadequate infrastructure,” Prof. Obi explained.

She added that the plan will focus on six key areas, including academic excellence, research and innovation, infrastructure development, human resource development, community engagement, and internationalization.

As part of the plan, UNICAL aims to increase its student population, expand its academic programs, and strengthen its research capabilities. The university also plans to invest in modern infrastructure, including state-of-the-art laboratories, libraries, and IT facilities.

The plan has been hailed as a bold initiative that will transform UNICAL into a world-class university. Stakeholders, including alumni, students, and staff, have expressed their support for the plan and pledged to work together to ensure its successful implementation.
