Unilever Champions Gender Inclusion and Workplace Equity –

Unilever Nigeria has reaffirmed its commitment to gender inclusion and workplace equity, commemorating the 2025 International Women’s Day with a series of impactful events at its Oregun and Agbara sites.

In a statement, the company emphasized its dedication to fostering diverse and inclusive leadership, bringing together professionals and advocates to discuss the role of equitable practices in creating a thriving work environment.

Managing Director of Unilever Nigeria, Tobi Adeniyi, highlighted the company’s ongoing efforts toward gender equality. “At Unilever, we prioritize inclusion and equity in all aspects of our operations. Having women in leadership and key decision-making roles enhances workplace productivity and overall organizational success,” he said. “We remain committed to building an ecosystem where everyone has the opportunity to excel.”

During a panel discussion themed “Accelerating Action Through Empowering Experiences,” National Finance Director of Unilever Nigeria, Folake Ogundipe, underscored the importance of proactive diversity and inclusion initiatives. She commended Unilever’s policies that promote equal opportunities and create an enabling environment for all employees.

Group Chief Financial Officer of Access Bank Plc, Ibukun Oyejide, stressed the significance of financial independence and leadership development for women. Encouraging women to be bold in their ambitions, she urged them to embrace leadership roles with confidence and purpose.

Nigerian producer and co-founder of Inkblot Productions, Zulumoke Oyibo, highlighted the impact of storytelling in shaping inclusive narratives. “Representation is crucial,” Oyibo stated. “The more we see diverse women in leadership positions, the more we normalize inclusion and inspire future generations.”

Renowned singer, songwriter, and actor Waje Iruobe addressed the unique challenges women face in the entertainment industry, advocating for support systems that foster growth and empowerment. “Empowerment is about creating opportunities and uplifting one another,” she noted.

The event concluded with a call to action for organizations to enhance gender equity efforts through mentorship, inclusive policymaking, and supportive workplace environments. Attendees also participated in a networking session, engaging in a sip-and-paint activity to foster collaboration and camaraderie.

Unilever Nigeria reaffirmed its commitment to gender-friendly workplace policies, including menstrual health leave, 16 weeks of maternity leave, and on-site lactation and childcare facilities, ensuring a supportive environment for working mothers.
