A Nigerian court has directed the University of Ibadan to respond to a lawsuit filed by a graduate, Olayemi Olaoluwa, over the institution’s alleged refusal to grant him access to the school’s portal.

Olaoluwa, who claimed to have completed his studies at the university, alleged that the institution had denied him access to the portal, thereby preventing him from accessing his academic records and other important documents.
In his suit, Olaoluwa prayed the court to declare that the university’s action was unlawful and violated his rights as a graduate of the institution. He also sought an order of the court compelling the university to grant him access to the portal.
The university, however, failed to respond to the suit, prompting the court to issue an order directing the institution to file a response within a specified period.
The court’s order was made after Olaoluwa’s lawyer, Adeyinka Oyinlola, informed the court that the university had refused to respond to the suit despite being served with the court processes.
Oyinlola argued that the university’s refusal to respond to the suit was a deliberate attempt to frustrate his client’s efforts to access the portal and obtain his academic records.
The case has been adjourned to a later date for further hearing.
