Vice President Kashim Shettima has reaffirmed Nigeria’s dedication to deepening its strong and enduring relationship with the Republic of Zambia, emphasizing the fraternal bond that has existed between both nations for decades. Speaking on Thursday at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, Shettima made the remarks while receiving Dr. Samuel Miambo, Special Envoy of Zambian President Hakainde Hichilema, who was in Nigeria to deliver a message from his principal to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
During the meeting, Vice President Shettima expressed Nigeria’s pride in its long-standing ties with Zambia, highlighting the shared history of both countries in the fight for civil liberties and independence. He particularly noted Zambia’s significant role in supporting the liberation movements during the apartheid era and its continued commitment to democratic values and stability since gaining independence.
Shettima further emphasized that the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu remains steadfast in its resolve to sustain and enhance this bilateral relationship, with a focus on mutual benefits and continued cooperation in key areas such as economic development, peace, and security. This gesture reflects the ongoing diplomatic efforts to strengthen ties between Nigeria and Zambia, which have been critical in advancing regional stability and prosperity in Africa.
