WAEC Resolves Technical Glitch in 2025 WASSCE Results; Portal to Reopen Within 24 Hours

Lagos, Nigeria – August 7, 2025

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has announced the resolution of a temporary technical glitch that affected access to the 2025 West Africa Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) results.

In an official statement on Thursday, the Council explained that the issue arose during post-release validation in subjects where a newly introduced paper-serialisation feature was deployed, including Mathematics, English Language, Biology, and Economics. The serialisation was implemented as an enhanced exam security measure for the 2025 WASSCE cycle.

WAEC stated that the error was identified shortly after the results were released and led to a suspension of access to the online result portal. Affected candidates were unable to retrieve their results during the review period.

“The Council regrets the inconvenience caused and wishes to assure all stakeholders, particularly candidates, parents, and schools, that the issue has been addressed. Updated results will be fully accessible via the result checker portal within the next twenty-four hours,” the statement read.

Candidates who previously accessed incomplete or inaccurate results are advised to re-check their results once the portal is restored.

Although the Federal Ministry of Education has not issued a formal statement on the incident, the Ministry previously confirmed that the 2025 examination cycle concluded successfully and reiterated its commitment to maintaining integrity in national assessment procedures.

WAEC reaffirmed its dedication to transparency, accuracy, and continuous improvement of its examination processes.
