As part of preparations for the upcoming West Africa Economic Summit (WAES) scheduled for June 20–21, 2025, in Abuja, the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, has embarked on a diplomatic shuttle to The Gambia and Senegal.
The Minister, who is serving as Special Envoy of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, is engaging with regional counterparts to deepen collaboration and extend official invitations to the high-level summit.
During her visits, Ambassador Ojukwu emphasized the importance of regional integration, economic cooperation, and sustainable development as key themes of the forum. She highlighted Nigeria’s commitment to fostering shared prosperity in West Africa through robust partnerships and private-sector-driven investments.
“The WAES 2025 will provide a unique platform for leaders across West Africa to align on strategies that will unlock regional trade, attract capital, and drive inclusive growth,” she stated.
Her visit forms part of broader diplomatic efforts by Nigeria to galvanize participation and secure high-level commitments ahead of the forum, which will convene heads of state, ministers, investors, and policymakers from across the sub-region.
