Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has revealed that the newly commissioned Conference Centre in Abuja has already been fully booked until 2027, highlighting high demand for the facility despite public criticisms.
Wike, while addressing reporters, noted that although some Nigerians pretend to downplay government projects, they are among the first to patronise such initiatives when it suits their interests.
“You know, Nigerians pretend. They like good things, but they will pretend as if they don’t,” Wike remarked. “That Conference Centre has been booked now till 2027 — no space. So, what are we talking about?”
The facility, which was recently inaugurated as part of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s infrastructural development agenda in the FCT, has become a hot spot for high-profile events, drawing interest from corporate bodies, government agencies, and international organisations.
Wike emphasized that the heavy bookings are a testament to the quality and relevance of the infrastructure being provided, calling on Nigerians to support efforts aimed at transforming the capital territory and the country at large.
