Abuja, Nigeria – September 5, 2025
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has called on residents of Abuja to embrace peace, compassion, and unity as Muslims worldwide marked this year’s Eid-el-Maulud, the commemoration of the birth of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).
In a goodwill message to FCT residents, Wike described the celebration as more than a religious event, stressing that it was a moment to reflect on the Prophet’s teachings of acceptance, love, and kindness.
“Eid-el-Maulud is not just a celebration of the birth of Prophet Muhammad; it is an opportunity for us to come together as residents of the FCT to uphold our commitment to values of acceptance, love, and kindness that the Prophet preached. It is a time to remember the importance of compassion and the virtues of togetherness that should guide our interactions with one another irrespective of our beliefs,” he said.
The minister commended Abuja residents for their cooperation in sustaining peace and harmony, noting that such commitment had enabled the administration to record progress in governance. He further expressed appreciation to law enforcement agencies, healthcare workers, and other essential service providers for keeping the city safe and functional during the festive period.
Wike reaffirmed the FCT Administration’s commitment to improving infrastructure and services across the territory, urging residents to continue supporting efforts that promote unity and development.
