ABUJA, June 26, 2025 – Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications to the FCT Minister, Lere Olayinka, has strongly refuted recent claims that Minister Nyesom Wike allocated 2,082 hectares of land in Abuja’s highbrow Maitama and Asokoro districts to one of his sons.
In a press release issued on Thursday, Olayinka described the allegations as “another falsehood from the vault of those whose main job is to malign the FCT Minister.” He added emphatically, Not even a single plot of land has been allocated to any of the Minister’s children” .
He also challenged the credibility of the reports, stating in a media briefing, Only quack journalists will go to town with the story of allocation of 2,082 hectares of land in Asokoro and Maitama.
Olayinka further clarified that the confusion may stem from a Right of Occupancy issued to JOAQ Farms and Estate Limited in Bwari Area Council, designated strictly for agricultural purposes, and entirely unrelated to any member of the Minister’s family .
He concluded by urging the public to disregard the report and reaffirmed the Minister’s commitment to transparency and adherence to all land allocation regulations under FCT policy .
