Youth Ministry Assumes Control of Agadagba Skill Centre to Boost Vocational Empowerment

Ondo, June 20, 2025 – The Federal Ministry of Youth Development has formally taken over the management of the Agadagba Skill Acquisition Centre in Ondo State as part of renewed efforts to expand youth empowerment and vocational training across Nigeria.

The centre, previously operated under local supervision, is now under direct federal administration with the aim of enhancing its capacity, improving infrastructure, and standardising the quality of skill development programmes available to young Nigerians.

During the handover ceremony, officials from the ministry affirmed their commitment to transforming the facility into a hub for innovation, entrepreneurship, and self-reliance among youths in the Niger Delta and surrounding regions.

A senior representative of the ministry stated that the takeover was aligned with President Bola Tinubu’s administration’s broader vision to equip young people with practical skills that can drive economic growth and reduce unemployment.

“This is not just a symbolic handover. We are stepping in to ensure that young people in this region get the best support, tools, and training to thrive in today’s economy. The Agadagba centre will become a benchmark for youth-focused vocational excellence,” the official said.

Plans are underway to upgrade training equipment, introduce new programmes in ICT, agro-processing, and creative industries, and recruit qualified instructors to support the centre’s new direction. The ministry also pledged to work with local stakeholders and development partners to maximise the impact of the centre’s offerings.

Community leaders and youth representatives present at the ceremony welcomed the development, expressing optimism that federal oversight would bring credibility, structure, and expanded opportunities for aspiring entrepreneurs and artisans.

The Agadagba Skill Acquisition Centre now joins a growing list of federal government-backed hubs aimed at harnessing the potential of Nigeria’s youth population through capacity-building, innovation, and job creation.
