15-Year-Old Kanyeyachukwu Tagbo-Okeke Sets New Guinness World Record for Largest Painting –

In a remarkable display of artistic talent and determination, 15-year-old Kanyeyachukwu Tagbo-Okeke, a Nigerian artist with autism, has broken the Guinness World Record for the largest painting on a canvas by an individual. His monumental artwork, titled “Impossible is a Myth,” measures an impressive 12,303 square meters and was unveiled at Eagle Square in Abuja on April 2, marking World Autism Awareness Day.

The painting, which took 12 weeks to complete, was officially recognized with a Guinness World Record certificate during an event supported by the Zeebah Foundation and MTN Nigeria. The ceremony attracted a diverse audience of dignitaries, art enthusiasts, and advocates for autism inclusion.

Kanyeyachukwu’s achievement has been hailed as a testament to his perseverance and creativity, proving that age and challenges are no barriers to greatness. His father described the feat as a celebration of the incredible talents of children with autism worldwide, showcasing what can be achieved with determination and support.

Minister of Art, Culture, and the Creative Economy, Hannatu Musawa, praised Kanyeyachukwu’s success, emphasizing that it not only sets a new milestone but also inspires autistic children globally. “By breaking this world record, Kanyeyachukwu has demonstrated that with the right support and opportunities, individuals with autism can excel in their chosen fields,” she said.

The United Nations Children’s Fund Nigeria Representative, Cristian Munduate, highlighted the artwork’s significance in promoting inclusion and resilience, emphasizing the UN’s commitment to advancing the rights of persons with disabilities. “Kanye’s achievement reminds us of our shared responsibility to create a world where neurodivergent individuals are empowered and respected,” Munduate noted.

MTN Nigeria’s Head of Retail, North, Chikaodi Ofoegbu, celebrated Kanyeyachukwu’s achievement as a symbol of what can be achieved through human ingenuity and determination. He emphasized MTN’s commitment to empowering individuals like Kanyeyachukwu to push boundaries and create meaningful impact.

Kanyeyachukwu’s record-breaking feat surpasses the previous record of 9,652 square meters set by an artist in Qatar. His artwork has been featured in galleries and museums across Nigeria, Europe, and Africa, showcasing his talent on the global stage. This achievement serves as a powerful message of inclusion and the potential of individuals with autism to excel in the arts.
