Ministry of Information Begins Mid-Term Performance Review Aligned with Presidential Deliverables

The Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation has commenced its mid-term performance review, aimed at assessing progress in line with the presidential deliverables outlined by the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The initiative, according to top ministry officials, is a critical component of the government’s broader accountability and results-driven governance framework. The review seeks to measure the ministry’s achievements against set targets, identify implementation gaps, and realign strategies to ensure optimal service delivery across its parastatals and agencies.

Speaking at the opening session in Abuja, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, said the mid-term assessment is in strict alignment with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. He noted that the review is not just an administrative exercise but a reflection of the government’s commitment to transparency, performance tracking, and public trust.

“We are undertaking this exercise to ensure that the Ministry of Information remains a critical enabler in disseminating accurate information, shaping national narratives, and reinforcing the values of patriotism, unity, and responsible citizenship,” the minister said.

He explained that the performance review will cut across all departments, including public communication, national orientation, digital media, and international public relations. Each unit is expected to present verifiable reports on projects executed, budgets utilised, and outcomes delivered to the Nigerian public.

The review process is also being monitored by the Office of the Special Adviser to the President on Policy and Coordination, which is tasked with ensuring ministerial alignment with national targets and the delivery of key performance indicators across all sectors.

Insiders within the ministry confirmed that a major focus of the review will be the reactivation of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), public enlightenment on government programmes, the battle against misinformation, and the digital transformation of public information systems.

Public affairs analysts have praised the review as a step in the right direction, particularly at a time when citizen engagement, media accountability, and digital information management are central to governance in Nigeria.

The Ministry of Information’s mid-term performance review is expected to conclude with a report to the Presidency and the Federal Executive Council, alongside recommendations for policy adjustments, improved public communication strategies, and better resource utilisation.

As the Tinubu administration approaches its two-year mark, the review offers a timely opportunity to demonstrate tangible progress and strengthen the link between policy promises and delivery at the grassroots.
