Lagos State Commissioner for Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi, on Monday paid an unannounced visit to Somolu General Hospital as part of government efforts to assess the facility’s current state ahead of a planned comprehensive reconstruction.
The surprise inspection enabled the Commissioner to interact directly with hospital staff and patients, assess infrastructural conditions, and identify urgent needs to be addressed in the upcoming redevelopment project.
Prof. Abayomi reiterated the State Government’s commitment under the leadership of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to overhaul healthcare infrastructure and ensure accessible, quality medical services across all communities in Lagos.
The planned reconstruction is part of a broader health sector reform aimed at strengthening service delivery, enhancing patient experience, and upgrading medical facilities in line with global best practices.
