The Royal Embassy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in Nigeria rolled out the drums in grand style on Tuesday, September 23, as it celebrated the 95th National Day of Saudi Arabia. The commemorative event, which took place at the prestigious Dunes Center in Maitama, Abuja, brought together an impressive array of diplomats, government officials, members of the business community, and friends of the Kingdom.
Marking nearly a century of the Kingdom’s unification, the occasion served not only as a tribute to Saudi Arabia’s rich history and achievements since its founding in 1932 by King Abdulaziz Al Saud, but also as a reaffirmation of the growing diplomatic and cultural ties between Saudi Arabia and Nigeria.
The atmosphere at the Dunes Center was both elegant and festive, with guests treated to a blend of traditional Saudi Arabian hospitality, cultural displays, and an ambience befitting the occasion. High-level Nigerian dignitaries and foreign diplomats in attendance exchanged warm pleasantries with Saudi officials, underscoring the spirit of mutual respect and cooperation between both nations.
In his remarks at the event, the Saudi Ambassador to Nigeria emphasized the enduring bilateral relationship between the Kingdom and the Federal Republic of Nigeria, noting that both nations share common interests in trade, education, energy, and religious affairs — especially through the facilitation of Hajj and Umrah pilgrimages for Nigerian Muslims.
He further highlighted Saudi Arabia’s transformation journey under its Vision 2030 initiative, which seeks to diversify the Kingdom’s economy, promote global partnerships, and encourage cultural exchange, adding that Nigeria remains a key partner in that vision, particularly in West Africa.
The event concluded with a toast to the continued friendship between Saudi Arabia and Nigeria, as well as prayers for peace, prosperity, and stability in both countries.
As the Kingdom celebrated 95 years of unity and progress, Tuesday’s event in Abuja served as a powerful reminder of Saudi Arabia’s growing influence in global diplomacy and its deep-rooted connections with Africa’s most populous nation.
