Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has directed security agencies within the state to intensify efforts in tracking down and bringing to justice the assailants responsible for the brutal killings of two Chinese nationals and a police officer in Uturu, Isuikwuato Local Government Area. The tragic incident occurred on Friday when the victims were ambushed while heading to a mining site in Agukwu-Amaya, Ndundu Community. In a statement released by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ferdinand Ekeoma, Governor Otti condemned the perpetrators’ actions and reiterated his administration’s unwavering commitment to ensuring justice. He assured the public that his government would provide the necessary resources and support to security forces to ensure the killers are apprehended and held accountable for their crime. Furthermore, the Governor revealed plans to strengthen security cooperation with neighboring states to establish a more robust security framework aimed at preventing criminals from crossing into Abia to commit crimes, as was the case in this attack. Otti extended his condolences to the Nigerian Police Force, the Chinese Embassy, and the families of the deceased, offering prayers for the eternal peace of the victims’ souls.
