A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, has called for a comprehensive overhaul of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), citing the agency’s alleged failure to effectively address the recurring cases of flight disruptions across the country.
Eze, a prominent voice within the party, expressed concern over the rising number of delayed and cancelled flights, which he described as “a national embarrassment” that undermines confidence in the aviation sector.
“The NCAA has failed in its regulatory duties. Nigerians cannot continue to suffer due to inefficiencies in the system while the agency appears indifferent,” he said in a statement issued to journalists in Port Harcourt on Sunday.
He urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Minister of Aviation to take urgent steps to sanitize the aviation industry and hold service providers accountable.
The APC stalwart further recommended that an independent audit of NCAA’s operations be carried out, with reforms aimed at improving service delivery and protecting consumer rights.
