KATSINA — The Federal Government has reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to fostering inclusive digital innovation and equipping Nigerian youth with the tools to lead the country’s technology revolution, as top government officials engaged young tech talents at the Arewa Tech Festival in Katsina.
Speaking during the event, a senior government official highlighted the administration’s focused efforts under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s leadership to accelerate Nigeria’s digital economy through investments in skills, infrastructure, and youth empowerment.
“Good to return to Katsina today to engage with a large gathering of young people at the Arewa Tech Festival, in fulfilment of a promise made to the Director General of @katdict just weeks ago,” the official shared. “I am extremely passionate about the opportunities that technology offers our young people, and I’m always eager to showcase the tremendous work being done to advance Nigeria’s digital future.”
The Arewa Tech Festival, a dynamic convergence of innovators, developers, and startups from across Northern Nigeria, provided a platform for participants to exhibit emerging technologies and homegrown solutions to regional challenges. The official commended the vibrancy and creativity on display, describing the energy of the youth as “truly inspiring.”
“The depth of innovation emerging across all parts of this country is clear proof that with the right support, our youth are ready to lead,” he said, emphasizing the Federal Government’s goal of ensuring that every community benefits from the nation’s digital transformation.
He noted that the government’s drive to expand digital literacy, improve connectivity, and support tech entrepreneurship is already yielding results, particularly in underserved regions. “The future is being built in places like Katsina,” he remarked, “and the young people I saw today are at the centre of that transformation.”
The participation at Arewa Tech Fest underscores the administration’s broader digital economy strategy, which includes programmes such as the 3 Million Technical Talent (3MTT) initiative, broadband penetration targets, and startup ecosystem support through the Nigeria Startup Act.
