Barcelona Cruise Past Osasuna to Extend La Liga Lead

Barcelona secured a comfortable 3-0 victory over Osasuna in their rearranged La Liga fixture, moving three points clear at the top of the table.

The match, originally scheduled for March 8, was postponed due to the passing of Barcelona’s first-team doctor Carles Minarro Garcia. The rescheduled game came just a day after the international break, prompting criticism from Barcelona manager Hansi Flick and defender Jules Kounde.

Despite the challenging circumstances, Barcelona dominated the match at their temporary Olympic Stadium home. Ferran Torres opened the scoring with a sliding finish from Alex Balde’s cross, before Dani Olmo won a penalty after being fouled by goalkeeper Sergio Herrera.

Although Herrera saved Olmo’s initial spot-kick, the penalty was retaken due to an Osasuna player encroaching in the box, and Olmo scored at the second attempt. Substitute Robert Lewandowski sealed the win with a headed goal from a swift counter-attack, taking his La Liga tally to 23 goals.

Barcelona’s victory extends their lead over Real Madrid to three points and seven points over Atletico Madrid. They next face Girona in La Liga on Sunday.
