Bauchi Flags Off June 2025 Immunisation Campaign, Targets 2.2 Million Children

Bauchi, Nigeria – June 15, 2025

The Bauchi State Government has launched the June 2025 edition of the National Immunisation Plus Days (NIPDs), aiming to vaccinate over 2.2 million children under the age of five against polio and other preventable childhood diseases.

Speaking at the official flag-off ceremony held in Bauchi on Saturday, the Executive Chairman of the Bauchi State Primary Health Care Development Agency, Dr. Rilwanu Mohammed, emphasized the importance of the campaign in safeguarding the health of children and consolidating the gains made in the fight against polio.

“Our target is to reach every eligible child in all the 20 local government areas of the state with life-saving vaccines. We cannot afford to lose momentum in our immunisation efforts,” he said.

The four-day campaign will feature house-to-house vaccination, transit point immunisation, and outreach to hard-to-reach settlements with support from partners including the World Health Organisation (WHO), UNICEF, and National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA).

Officials urged parents and caregivers to ensure that their children receive the vaccines, noting that immunisation is free, safe, and essential for a healthy future.

The campaign is part of national efforts to sustain a polio-free Nigeria and strengthen routine immunisation coverage across the country.
