CGC Tasks New Squad on Integrity, Vigilance in Assigned Duties

Abuja, Nigeria – June 6, 2025

The Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service (CGC), Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, has charged newly deployed personnel to uphold the highest standards of integrity and vigilance as they take on their assigned responsibilities across the country.

Speaking during a formal briefing and induction ceremony at the Customs Headquarters in Abuja, the CGC emphasized the importance of discipline, transparency, and patriotism in the execution of their duties, particularly in curbing smuggling and enhancing revenue collection.

“You are not just representatives of the Service, but ambassadors of the Nigerian state. Your actions must reflect integrity, professionalism, and total commitment to national interest,” Adeniyi stated.

The CGC further warned against any form of compromise, urging the new squad to remain alert and proactive in tackling emerging threats within the customs and border management ecosystem.

He reiterated the Service’s zero-tolerance stance on corruption, stating that any officer found guilty of misconduct would face strict disciplinary action in line with extant regulations.

The new squad, drawn from various commands, is expected to strengthen enforcement efforts, improve operational efficiency, and support the Service’s mandate of facilitating legitimate trade while safeguarding national security.
